DAvid was born in the 1940's at Aliwanawanyu west of Fregon community. His father Jimmy Wikilyiri was a Yankunytjatjara man from Kunamata south of Nyapari and his mother was a Pitjantjatjara woman from Watarru. David is the brother of Wingu Tingima and Ginger Wikilyiri.
