About
Nerry is the daughter of the Paramount chief of Omie men, Willington Uruhe. She grew up immersed in her culture with its rich heritage of tattooing clan insignis on the skin, known as sor'e. She has mastered these traditional designs , working over the surface of a nioge (barkcloth) with her spirited filigree style. Her work has been included in exhibitions of barkcloth art at the Textile Museum of Canada, Toronto and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington as well as in Wisdom of the Mountain: Art of the Omie held at the National Gallery of Victoria International, Melbourne. Her works are also held in the collections of the Queensland Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria.
