Details of Spider Kalbybidi
About
Spider was a senior law man from the Western Desert. His full sister is Alma (Kalaju) Webou and fellow-artist Weaver Jack also calls him Brother. He was born near the Canning Stock Route at Unjada and was initiated into manhood at Naru. He walked in from the desert near Well 33 to Bidyadanga in the late 1960's with other members of the Yulparija people whose land was threatened by severe drought at this time.
He was highly respected among his people for his wide knowledge of bush culture and is sadly missed.
