About Gumbubayin
Blandina Barney has painted her father Gordon Barney's country.Gumubayin is the name of the river that travels from Springvale Station to Yarangka (Chinaman's Garden), heading towards a hill called Gulungurren.

In the Ngarrangkarni (Dreaming) the crocodile and the goanna swapped their teeth in this country. This place used to be a holiday camp for many of the people who used to work on Alice Downs Station. They would hunt kangaroo and goanna and mine for gold. Gordon Barney says that they would find nuggets as big as your fist in the ground out there. After Christmas they would come back to this place. The station is located back behind the hills.
