SoldAbout Wawuliwan
Wawuliwan is a place near the LIttle Fitzroy River north east of Tableland station in Mick Jawalji's country.Warwuliwan is about two miles from a place on the river called Ducky Hole. There is a yard for cattle and a mustering camp at Ducky Hole. Jawalji and the other stockmen used to yard up bullocks there.
There is a little creek that goes to Warwuliwan which is on the side of a hill. Jawaljis father's mother died at Warwuliwan. This was before Jawalji was born and before there was white people and cattle in that country. At the junction of the Little Fitzroy River and the creek that goes to Wawuliwan, there is a camping place. There is a blackfella road that goes from Tableland to Ducky Hole then to Warwuliwan and goes over the hill all the way to Karunji station. Aboriginal people used to take this route to walk to Karunjie.
In the painting the diagonal line going toward the top left corner represents the creek going to Wawuliwan and the diagonal line going toward the bottom left corner represents the river going to table land. The diamond shape in the middle of the two diagonal lines represents the camping place at the junction.
