About Kurrkapi
The symbols in this painting are Kurrkapi (Desert Oak) and are found around Tjikanya rockhole, a very deep rockhole with lots of water and a permanent water source with lots of animals coming around - "too many!" A long way from Patjarr. People would throw a container down in a rope to draw water up. Leonora mob would stop at this place and use the water to drink.

It's the living place of Tjilkamarta (echidna) who killed a lot of people and ate them "he got really wild - these people are mad - he made a big thunder and killed them with a stone in his hand - put them in the fire - because they made him angry.
