Margaret says "this my mother's kalyu (water), he not jila ( living water), this one you have to dig out and he come up. We been there at wantapuru (cool season) I been little girl.' This place is near Winpa in Margaret's traditional country in the Great Sandy Desert.

Margaret says when she uses big areas of white in her works, she is painting Warla which are big mud flats and salt pans that run through her country.
