About barrigo'e - black pigment design
Julice was taught this design by her husband, the master Emate clan songman Mackenzie Ajiro who was originally taught the design from one of his mothers, Emate clan elder Brenda Kesi (Arire). It is known as barrigo'e, black pigment design. The lines that run through the work are known as orriseege, or 'pathways' and provide a compositional framework for the design.
