Herman Corby Tjapaltjarri Australian, b. 1998
Herman is the oldest son of Watson Corby. He inherits a rich legacy of art from his Grandparents Johnny Warungkula and David Corby.
Herman is a natural image maker and has a keen eye for capturing the world around him. Herman has been working around other painters since 2019, stretching and preparing canvas and paint for artists, looking after artists and completing administrative documentation and computer work.
Herman has participated in a Photography workshop with Desart in Papunya, and has travelled to Canberra as professional development accompanying artist Punata Stockman to work on a commission for the Australian War Memorial. In 2020 Herman was a finalist and awarded Highly Commended in the Desart Photography Prize.
Herman looks forward to developing a career in the arts. In August 2023, for the first time, Herman's paintings were exhibited as part of the Tjupi men's group show titled, "Kuntarringanyi Wankantjaku (Too Shy to Speak)" at Coconut Studios, Darwin, NT. Herman also had two photography works for the show.
