This painting relates to the salt lake claypan site of Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay), north west of the Kintore community. A group of ancestral women camped at this site to hold ceremonies after travelling through the Kintore area, south east of Wilkinkarra. The site has an associated story which refers to a wanampi, or water snake. As they travelled the women gathered a variety of bush foods including pura or bush tomato from the shrub Solanum chippendalei, and kampurarrpa or desert raisin from the small shrub Solanum centrale.
