A design based on tjanpi/grasses. In traditional Anangu Pitjantjatjara life, each of the many varieties of grasses which grow locally in the Musgrave ranges had different uses. They define different kinds of country and soils suitable for growing the grasses. Today some varieties are used by women to make baskets and large sculptural pieces. Women favour the sweet-smelling Intjianyu which was once used as medicine for respiratory problems and grows long and flexible at the base of hills.
