In Spinifex lore Tjirtjiti is a highly sacred place and the place where Carlene was born.. It is a place of unusual geographic features of saltlake and large unvegetated sandhills. Like many Spinifex Tjukurpa Tjitjirtjiit is spoken of in hushed tones when discussing the story.
At Tjirtjiti two ancestor women were crossing the huge lake. With them they had a child. The women did not know they were being followed by a man who called out to them to hand over the child.
