Charlene Carrington has painted the Garnkiny story as she remembers Hector Jandany painting and telling it. Jandany was the brother of Charlene's maternal grandmother Betty Carrington and according to Gija kinship she called him her grandfather. Theirs was a close relationship and Hector was also Charlene's main painting teacher and passed much of his vast knowledge of th Ngarranggarni on to her. Her painting of the Moon honour his art and all that he taught her.
