"This story is about my stepfather, mum and two sisters, when they used to foot walk around this country from Newry Station to Ivanhoe Station. They used to live behind Kelly' Knob and Hidden Valley. They did not have access to horses or trucks. At that time their were no roads, town or farms. There were only plains then, plenty of trees and grasses. Then they started to build the bridge and the farms." After equal wage, Ivanhoe Station closed down, forcing all Indigenous station workers to move to Kununurra. Agnes paints her country in remembrance of a time when her people still lived in tents, walked throughout their land and hunted bush tucker. " I used to walk through there all the time. My mother often walked from Newry Station N.T. to Ivanhoe Station. We didn't know about the two dams being built until we heard the explosions."
