This painting shows the old way of fishing. It depicts the creek at Warmun - Turkey creek, which is shown in grey on the bottom right. It shows the crane (the white splash) and the all night owl, who is sittng in the tree near the river.
The Crane sang out, "There's no fish in the river. No fish!"
The crane threw a spear and the spear turned into a tree. The crane sang out to the all night owl, "That spear bin turn into a poison tree." Owl never got to go fishing. This is the old way of fishing. The poison tree emits a milky substance that stuns the fish. The fish would be dazed, and then you could then roll your spinifex net along the bottom and easily catch all the sleepy fish
