The Wandjina brings the Wunju - the wet season. He's the rainmaker. A long time ago my people believed that he was a god. They used to ask him for rain and food on the land.
The Wandjina travelled around the coast creating the world and carrying the clouds that were to become the Wandjina's homes. The rains nourishes the land and from the land the Wandjina taught people how to make artefacts and hunting tools and showed the people which trees to use.
Around the Wandjina there is a shield used for fighting and a boomerang, woomera and spear. The dilly bag is used for carrying yams and bush berries. Clapping sticks are for dancing. The bush bucket was for honey. The namarga is a baby cradle. Near the Wandjina's hand are didgeridoos.
In the Lalai (the dreamtime) the Wandjina came into the caves and left a picture of themselves on the rock.
