Clarrie was born in Derby, Western Australia, and moved to Kalumburu during missionary times where he grew up and went to school. He was trained as a builder in his community and has worked in the community store. In 1999 he was elected President of Kalumburu Aboriginal Community Council. Clarrie has only recently turned his hand to painting in order to record his culture for the younger generation. Clarrie is a tour guide and cultural advisor for visitors to the community and the Wunumbal people.
