Every morning, the sun-woman, Wuriupranala, one of the daughters of the original creator, Mudungkala, climbs a high mountain in the east, and, carrying her blazing torch of bark given to her by her brother Purukupali,, travels across the sky, parallel to the earth. Sometimes, the sun-woman, to please her husband, powders her body with red ochre, the dust of which, flying into the sky, reddens the early morning clouds.
