Armalarr - Means big shoulders - big boss Wandjina.
Armalarr is a powerful Wandjina creation and rain-maker spirit belonging to the Ngarinyin traditional owners of Bell Gorge in the West Kimberley region of Western Australia, near the Imintji community. Armalarr is one of many sacred Wandjina figures connected to this Country, with stories passed down through generations.

Nora is the granddaughter of the late Jack Dale Mengenen, a highly respected Ngarinyin elder and custodian of deep cultural knowledge. Jack played a vital role in the Wilinggin land claim and was a passionate teacher of Ngarinyin law, history and ceremony. Before his passing, he entrusted many of these stories and responsibilities to Edna, who now continues to share them through her artworks.
