This is the old stock and wagon route from Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek that went along through Mount Amos and Mulla Mulla Station. Donkeys and horses used to pull the carts. People would walk a long way to get to this point to wait for the mail drop. There was a true story that happened long time ago one day the wagon didn't turn up. One bloke who had been hiding in the caves near here and had stopped the wagon and burnt it and maybe killed people and stole the mail bag and supplies. The police used two old men Captain and Ngochi to track him. They found his track and followed it over the hill and they waited hidden in the scrub near the creek close by to catch him when he came to get some water to drink. The Police said to the trackers "You did a good thing, you can have your land back" but the old men said "No it's ok we just want tobacco and rations." That's a true story told to me by my parents. I painted this on country looking down to the side of the Gap you can the old track there at the bottom.
