I painted this out on country. It's the old highway, before there was the new highway Aboriginal name Booyoola jarlangga (Creek) It's a very old road that used to go to Halls Creek. You can still see the old posts there, we dug the holes with a bar and one fella got a blister from digging and had to go to hospital but we kept working and I had to thread the fence with wire, it's stll standing.
My Dad always would go to races at Halls Creek and he would wait there for the loading truck, the driver would blow the horn to let them know he's coming to jump on the truck. My Mum would tell my Dad "Get ready get your swag ready!" And we all get our swags ready waiting for the truck "Bobbi One Ride"to come so we could jump on the back. It's a dirt road, windy road all the way and took all day to get there to Halls Creek for the races. At night there was a merry-go-ground, us kids would ride it and they had people boxing, shooting ducks and we'd go round looking at everything. When the races finished we'd come back the same way and the other way sometimes I'd go with my Mum all the way to Fitzroy.
No one uses that road anymore.
