This painting depicts a place near to Tjukurla, Nerida’s mother’s country. She cannot say the name of this place, as it is the place of an important Tjukurpa, where the Porcupine pushed that big Perente lizard out of the way. The Porcupine was really angry, jealous, because the Perente had been loving that Porcupine’s wife. He went looking around for that Perente, found him and pushed him out of the way, blocking his path. The porcupine did not want him to pass though. The porcupine and the Perente became the mountains in this country, they are still here now.
