Ivy Laidlaw walks the brush along the travelling lines of her past, passing the significant sites where she and her immediate family would settle for periods. Sometimes these significant sites have associated Tjukurpa (Creation Line) while others are ‘just country’ or often Ivy will modernise with ‘Community’. Always pushing the limits of colour and form, Ivy fills the space to create a landscape that is abundant with movement and meaning. She wanders through the linear timeline between past and present with ease and her enigmatic compositions reflect her journey. Ivy often depicts the first beings that formed the very landscape they inhabit and recounts the underlying moral narrative that is etched in the surrounding environment for all to see.
