The Wandjina fish has a face like the Wandjina. It was painted in the caves by our ancestors. A long time ago our people believed that the Wandjina was a god to them, the Wandjina is a protector of the land and the sea. The Wandjina is the rainmaker, in Aboriginal way they call it Gulingii. There are also small spirits, some are good and some are bad. If you go into a cave there are all sorts of spirit paintings.

The small birds are night herons that cry at night to keep warm and the round circles are the eggs. There are the Wunggurr (Water snake) young ones. The Wunggurr protects the river and creeks so they won't get dry. They are company for the Wandjina. The sticks with roots are the yam plant. The Aboriginal people painted these things along time ago. The water snake is good for eating, so are the yams.
