Nyanu Watson loves to paint Tjulpu (birds). Nyanu paints in a naive style and depicts birds native to the Pipalyatjara and Kalka area. Nyanu creates stories for the characters in her work, they are families, husbands, wives and tjitji's ( children). As Nyanu paints she tells the stories of family life, sharing food, looking for water, caring for young ones. Nyanu knows all the bird calls of local birds and speaks to them as her friends.
