In Spinifex lore Tjitjiti is a highly sacred place and the place where Carlene was born. It is a place of unusual geographic features of salt lake and large un-vegetated sand hills. Like many Spinifex Tjukurpa Tjitjiti is spoken in hushed tones when discussing the story.
At Tjitjiti two women were crossing the huge lake. With them they had a child. The women did not know that they were being followed by a man who called out to them to hand over the child.
