Amata community is situated in the APY Lands of Australia and is renowned for artists who reimagine their country and culture through a contemporary and highly acclaimed artistic lens. The artworks from this region have long been regarded as at the forefront of skilful, strong line work and a rich use of colour. The artists of Amata use paint to visualise the spirit and forms of their country, creating culturally significant and fascinating artworks that are collected world wide.
The artists of Amata's interpretations of country are both spiritual and physical, imbued with the creation stories and landmarks that are at the forefront of every artists practice. As a leader in the desert art movement the Amata artists have been acquired by many high-profile collectors and prestigious Australian cultural institutions including; The National Gallery of Australia, The Art Gallery of New South Wales, The National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
