COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT : YUENDUMU: ARTWORK FROM THE BUNGALOW

Yuendumu community has one of the longest running and most successful Aboriginal-owned art centres in Central Australia. Art practice is in-built into the community, with the younger generation being instructed in the stories and designs of their traditional culture thru the art centre for over 20 years. In this way the community is able to grow their studio and allow their artists to becomes as accomplished and successful as their forbearers, increasing teh standing of the studio and the longevity of their artistic footprint.
Multiple artists from with the Yuedumu community and its surrounding areas have become a highly sought after with their artworks and designs seen through out Australia and internationally. Their diverse and spectacular paintings carry a significance and weight that only longevity and tradition can bring. All the artworks in todays Spotlight tell the artist's stories of their connection to country, the features of their landscape, the plants and animals that are found there and the creation myths of their culture.
