ARTIST SPOTLIGHT : VERONICA DANIELS: ARTWORKS FROM THE BUNGALOW

Veronica Daniels is a contemporary Aboriginal artist connected to the remote community of Balgo (Wirrimanu), a place renowned for its vibrant and expressive desert art traditions. Born around 1961 in Yuendumu, she comes from a strong artistic lineage as the daughter of respected senior Law woman and artist Sarah (Manaya) Daniels. Her paintings reflect both her mother’s Country, Mina Mina, and her father’s lands around Yuendumu, blending inherited cultural knowledge with a personal storytelling approach.

Veronica’s style is characterised by bold colour, rhythmic dotting, and symbolic forms typical of Balgo artists, whose work is known for its dynamic compositions and vivid palettes. Her art often depicts mangarri (bush tucker), tjurnu (waterholes), powerful symbols tied to spirituality and her Tjukurpa (dreaming). Daniels work shows a deft hand and a use of colour that highlights both her individual practice and her place within the broader, Balgo painting movement. We invite you to view her work below.
