SPOTLIGHT ON MONOCHROME: ALL THINGS BLACK & WHITE
Technically, monochrome can mean the use of only one colour or hue. However, in more recent times it has come to refer to photography and artworks that rely solely on black and white. The simplicity of monochromes have a enduring quality about them that lets your eyes wonder with curiosity without distraction. Many artists employ black and white to experiment with line and form or to recreate a feeling or place that is clear and distilled. High impact monochrome images have a classic feel about them. The sole use of black and white has an ability to tap into nostalgia and make the image and the viewer feel perfectly still. Without distractions the artworks present in a way that is unabashed and raw, making you notice the small details. The ability to bring calm to a space and add a sense of timelessness is hard to beat. This week, Short St Gallery invite you to view a selection of monochromatic artworks in glass, canvas, photography and paper. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
In our efforts to continue to support and promote the industry we love and the artists we work with during the pandemic, Short St Gallery are doing Artist Profiles and Community Spotlights regularly, often with a special promotion, so keep your eyes on our emails for that little bit of something special. We are also offering 10% off all works in the Xmas viewing room for the next two weeks.
You can access our smart new View on a Wall option by clicking on an image and then selecting View on a Wall. You can contact us via email or phone for all enquiries, to arrange a live chat or have additional images sent to you. We will also be posting videos and still footage of the featured artworks on our social media accounts to bring a little bit of the joy of art to your lounge rooms.
