COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT : ANANGU IN ADELAIDE

Many Anangu people who are traditionally from the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara Lands in South Australia move to the capital city of Adelaide to access health resources and other opportunities. Iwiri Arts emerged in 2018 as a community and culture centre in the heart of Adelaide to provide the Anangu with a support through art and culture practices. The art centre has deep ties to artists from across the APY Lands who have an art practice in ceramics and paintings, with a special connection to the renown Ernabella artists.

By being able to grow and feel strong by connecting to culture in an urban environment, the artists are creating works that are beautiful and powerful. The resulting paintings and stoneware are exceptional, depicting their country and gaining attention across the art market. Short St Gallery are honoured to present a collection of artworks from the studio, and we are offering a 10% discount for multiple purchases from Iwiri until the end of March 2023!
