SPOTLIGHT ON CERAMICS: Artworks from the Bungalow

Short St Gallery presents our collection of magnificent ceramics from The Bungalow. Today’s selection includes beautiful stoneware from across the country; from Ernabella and Iwiri, through to the Kimberley, and introducing the incredible Ingrid Williams. Each stunning object is covered in intricate designs and patterning that tell the stories and Tjukurpa (dreaming) of the artists. The artist and their creations are incredible representations of the 3D form, with intricate designs and patterning and a refined mastery of medium.

As each artist maps the surface of the vessels, the forms are elevated into unique and individual objects, from to Rupert Jack's bold and tactile vases, to Peggy Griffith's softly filled plates, and the wild form of Iwiri’s shapes and colours. The artists use these stunning sculptural forms to tell their stories and the stories of their ancestors, engaging the viewer with the beauty of three-dimensional objects.
