COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT : AMATA: Artworks from the bungalow

The artists of Amata, in the APY Lands of Australia, have long had a drive to create an acclaimed artistic hub in their homeland. They founded a women's art centre in the late 1990's, which later grew to reflect the growing involvement of men in Amata's art scene. Artworks from Amata are imbued with the creation stories and country that are at the forefront of the community's minds. Their art studio has facilitated the careers of some of the most prolific and celebrated artists within Australia whose works has been acquired by many high-profile collectors and prestigious Australian cultural institutions including; The National Gallery of Australia, The Art Gallery of New South Wales, The National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of South Australia, to name a few.

Short St Gallery invites you to view recently arrived artworks from Amata that show the diverse range in style, vibrant mark making and rich colour palette of this incredible community. We are honoured to present within the selection significant artworks by Nyunmiti Burton. A price list can be obtained on enquiries@shortstgallery.com.
