SPOTLIGHT ON WORKS ON PAPER: Artworks from the bungalow
Current viewing_room
Short St Gallery presents an exciting collection of works on paper from our stockroom. Often drying quicker, the nature of paper grants materials such as ink, paint, and watercolours the ability to be absorbed in distinctive ways, allowing for beautiful depths of colour and veneer. For artists, the freedom and immediacy of paper provides a medium that can inspire new techniques, aesthetics, subjects, or methodologies.
From an art buyer’s perspective works on paper often provide an accessible point of entry into the art market, the frequently smaller size of works on paper can allow collectors access to artworks and artists that might otherwise require more space and a higher price point. The works on paper in today's collection explore an inventive fusion of materials and techniques from the ochres of Arnhem Land, to the explosive acrylics from Fitzroy Crossing, and the depth and detail of the Hermannsburg watercolours.
This important and accessible mode of art making has a texture and intimate nature that links us to the idea that working on paper can provide an insight into how artists think and communicate. Short St Gallery invites you to view todays Spotlight. A price list can be obtained on enquiries@shortstgallery.com.
