Nola Rogers Australian, Walmajarri, b. 1963

Nola resides at Guardi Aged Care in Fitzroy Crossing and started painting with Mangkaja two years ago. Her mother, Walka Molly Rogers was a founding member of Mangkaja Arts in the 90's and an important cultural keeper for Walmajarri people that walked out of the desert in the 60's to eventually settle at GoGo station. Walka was one of the painters for the Ngurrara canvases in 1997, which were pivotal in proving the group’s connection to country and later led to their successful Ngurrara Native Title Claim.

Only new to painting, Nola has an expressive painting style and shows great confidence in her mark making.  She paints about growing up on GoGo station.
