Bessie Daylight Australian, Gija, b. 1967

Bessie Daylight is the daughter of well-known Warmun artist Betty Carrington who, with othersenior artists, taught Bessie how to collect, grind and paint with natural ochre. Bessie paintsher traditional country of Texas Downs and the Ngarranggarni (Dreaming) stories connected toTexas, as well as the living elements within this country. Bessie lives in Warmun community with her two children and extended family. Bessie uses adiverse range of colours and paints with her own unique vision. She is strong in culture and law, as taught by her mother
