Betty King Australian, Yankunytjatjara, b. 1950

Betty King is an early career artist with an exciting career ahead of her. She is a cultural leade rin her community. Betty King has led many Inma (ceremony) projects, she also participates in both singing and dancing. Betty is committed to cultural practices especially in the arts and continues to play a pivotal rol ein the continuation of these practices within the Indulkana community. Betty says:"I was born in Port Augusta outside of the hospital. I grew up in Oodnadatta and went to school there. As a young teenager I went to Indulkana and did more school here. Then I moved to Mt. Ebenezer. I lost my mama (father) there and my mother died while I wast here also. Then I moved to Areyonga and had babies there, Julie and Judas. After a while, I moved over to Indulkana. I have lived here for a long time. Done lots of work. I started as a A.W at the school as a teacher's aid. Then I worked at the Health Clinic. Now I am at Iwantja Arts. I am a happy grandmother also.”
