"We traveled quite a bit when I was young, from the south where the ocean meets the desert right into the APY Lands. All the roads were red dirt, there was no highway then. My dad's job was to grade the roads; we used to help him to move the stones. He had a big caravan that we lived in, and we would drive around the lands in it. My mother was a strong woman; she started the art studio here with Alec Baker a long time ago. When I was young, I would come and watch her, and the other old ladies make paintings and dye fabrics. I've made paintings here for a long time, it's a good place. "
