Lloyd Ajax Pitjanttjatjara, Australian, b. 1977
Born in Alice Springs, Lloyd grew up at Mulga Park Station and Amata community on the
Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, South Australia. His mother Iris Ajax was from
Amata and his father Clancy Ajax from Pukatja community. Lloyds’ grandfather was esteemed
painter Dickie Minyintiri, who taught him to paint, transferring important skills and knowledge.
Lloyd moved to Irrunytju to be with his wife Janet Bryant with whom he has three sons. Lloyd
paints malu (kangaroo) tjukupa. Malu are looking for kapi (water) and have been living in the tali
(sandhills) and rocks on scared country near Amata.
