Antama Baker YankYunytjatjara, Australian, b. 1975

Antama was born at Indulkana and grew up at the newly established Indulkana Community.

As a child Antama and his siblings lived in a wiltja (hand-built shelter) beside the Indulkana

Creek, his family eventually moved closer to the community as housing became available.

Antama’s mother, Angkuna Baker, pioneered the first school at Indulkana, which operated

from a wiltja before moving to the new building at Indulkana. Antama’s father, Alec Baker, is

a respected law man, and stockman. Both Angkuna and Alec are accredited artists, with

paintings held in many major public collections across Australia.

Antama began painting at Iwantja Arts in 2024, he works alongside his father Alec in the

men’s studio room, painting important iconography and depictions of Country taught to him

by his father. Antama is also a talented musician, he plays guitar and piano and performs

regularly in the community.
