Bronwyn Jimmy APY, Australian, b. 1968

Bronwyn Jimmy's cultural ties are to the country in Watarru. Her work is inspired by a deep

connection to country and is evidence of her immense knowledge of food and water sources

that are vital for survival in the dynamic desert environment. Her paintings depict the vast

landscape and natural resources surrounding the remote community of Watarru, in the

Southern Desert region. The sandhills are interspersed by vast, flat plains of Spinifex and native

grasses which are criss-crossed by dry creeks surrounding Watarru country.
