Nurina Burton Australlian, Pitjantjara, b. 1967

From the APY Lands, Nurina was born at Ernabella Mission and grew up there. She then married and moved with her husband to Tjala Community where she remained, along with several of her children and their children. She usually paints with Tjala Arts, but is now resident in Alice Springs due to her health needs. She is hopeful of returning back to her community in the near future. Nurina paints her Country, her father's mother's secret and sacred site where Ngapari, sweet lerps can be found in summer on eucalypt leaves. Nurina describes this as 'Sweet Dreaming' something like Honey.

 

She has been a director of Tjala, a member of Amata Council and works with NPY Women's Council.
