NGAYUKU NGURA - MY PLACE: NEW WORKS FROM KALKA & PIPALYATJARA

Short St Gallery presents Ngayuku Ngura – My Place, featuring exciting new artworks from the communities of Kalka and Pipalyatjara. The exhibition remembers and honours ancestral country, using bold colours and energetic brush strokes to render memories and feelings associated with the artists' Tjukurpa (dreaming) and art practice.

Embedded in thousands of years of tradition, the artists rhythmic techniques give their paintings a sense of something awakening, of new life. Their strong process driven art practice allows the artists of Ninuku to work from memory, to put down marks and shapes that map their country and carry big stories. The exhibition features new work from Samuel Miller, Stanley Young, Cassaria Young, Carol Young, Yamangara Murray, Angela Watson and Anyupa Nelson.
