THE TIDE LINE: OPENING AUGUST 5 @ 6PM : A SOLO BY WENDY WARRIE

29 July - 25 August 2022
Wendy Warrie is a Kariyarra and Yindjibarndi woman living at Cheeditha Community in the Pilbara, Western Australia. Wendy uses meticulous detail to spectacular effect to focus on the creation story of her people, the landscape of her Country, and her home at Cheeditha. She has found growing recognition for her mesmeric line paintings that reference the tidal flows, rugged coastlines, and mountain ranges of Kariyarra and Yindjibarndi Country, where she reinterprets fond memories of visiting family and doing Law time at Yandiyarra.

In The Tide Line Wendy has focused on the coastline of her country and the changing tides that mark its magnificent beauty, and how to best approach the ocean. Wendy has recently featured in significant exhibitions and awards and is garnering growing interest from collectors Australia wide. She currently features in Tracks We Share at the Art Gallery of Western Australia and was the recipient of the 2022 Jury Prize for Painting. We are excited to present Wendy’s solo exhibition The Tide Line and invite you to view the exhibition and join Short St Gallery and Wendy to open the exhibition at Short St's Annexe on August 5 @ 6pm, all welcome.
