Short St Gallery Staff Picks: Spotlight on Staff Picks & Special Promotions

Ever wondered what Short St Gallery’s staff would buy if they had the funds and the wall space? Or what they are drawn to and consider a rising talent or established power house in the art world? Five of Short St’s wonderful staff have selected four artworks each. Each piece has caught their eye for varying reasons and below is a quick explanation from each staff member. If you are interested in further insight into the selection we have included a PDF that can be downloaded from the List of Wors button below. We are also available to via phone and email to answer any of your questions. We hope you enjoy viewing these glorious artworks as much as we have enjoyed fantasising about taking them home!

Elya, Manager, ‘ Elizabeth Nyumi’s tactile surface; her loose and luminous palette as she re-connects to country, taking us on a delightful journey across the canvas, to which we are happy to oblige.’

Tahnee, Coordinator, ‘Yata Gypsy Yadda’s artwork has and always will make me feel something indescribable and ephemeral. I find this one of the beautiful things about art. It can speak to you personally to make you feel or think something that often can’t be quantified. This is one of the pleasures of perusing art and finding the right piece for you.’

Anna, Gallery Assistant, ‘I find Judy Martin's painting very compelling because of its complexity in form and colour. This is a work about her father's country at Wakura which is very special and sacred to her and her family.’

Jade, Gallery Assistant, ‘Mrs Japulija's use of colour is so vivid and lively, creating a sense of joy in her work. The Perspex medium creates a beautiful, glass-like aesthetic giving the work a unique quality.’

Anthony, Gallery Assistant, ‘Molly was born in the bush c.1948. Her painting Wakapulkatjara provides us with a metaphysical view into the past, illuminating the ancient bond between nature and humanity. Making this a very special work of art.’

In our efforts to continue to support and promote the industry we love and the artists we work with during the pandemic, Short St Gallery are doing Artist Profiles and Community Spotlights regularly, often with a special promotion, so keep your eyes on our emails for that little bit of something special. Our current promotions include free shipping on Alison Anderson and Staff Pick's artworks, and if you fall in love with more than one work from the Tiwi Islands, we are offering a 10% discount on multiple purchases from the region, until the end of September.
